This herbal Earl Grey Tea Cocktail a great fusion of honey, lemon, oil of bergamot and whisky.
When I was coming home from London, I got a tickle in the back of my throat. You know the one, the oh crud I’m getting sick, drink copious amounts of tea with honey and pound vitamins C, tickle. Well, that tickle got me to thinking, wouldn’t it be amazing if I wasn’t on flying tube, 39,00 feet in the air, somewhere between England and Greenland to have a whisky tea cocktail to soothe my itchy throat and remedy my jet lag?
I’ve named this cocktail The Cold Todd. It’s like a Hot Toddy but chilled and made with English Single Malt Whisky and Earl Grey tea. So, it’s basically nothing like a hot toddy except it’s made with tea, honey, and lemon. The oil of bergamot gives this cocktail a herbal essence. Oil of bergamot is extracted from bergamot oranges. The lemon and honey compliment the oils unique flavor. I chose Dailuaine Whisky, a very smooth spirit for its sweet and smoky flavors. It’s very smooth mouthfeel and does not overpower the other flavors.

“There’s nothing we like better than a cuppa—except, perhaps, a tea-based cocktail.” Saveur Magazine I have to say, I could not agree more.
