Last week Charlie and I headed down to Tampa, Florida again this year for Cigar City, Hunahpu’s Day. It was a great weekend filled with good beer, good food and much needed respite from the Chicago winter. One of the best parts of the weekend was starting each day with a Buddy Brew. I fell in love with this coffee shop on first sip.
Buddy Brew Coffee is craft roaster with a passion for ” Brew Good and Do Good.” They believe that coffee should be extraordinary and carefully select their coffee from farmers who diligently grow and process their beans to their highest quality. Each bean is treated with with care and artfully hand roasted.
I was lucky enough to try their Hunahpu Cold Brew on Nitro, a their cold brew and a good ole’ latte.
The Hunahpu Cold Brew on Nitro was bright with notes of citrus and cardamom. Their regular cold brew was earthy with a chocolate finish. The latte was rich and creamy. The Espresso had the right amount of bitter which complimented the perfectly steamed and frothed milk. Vanilla and almond undertones came though until the last sip. Each brew was delightful to drink but the latte, hands down, was my favorite.
The cafe is one of the best places in Tampa beaches to visit as it has a large and lively space where you can enjoy a cup of coffee alone or socialize with friends. They serve a limited but delicious menu of toasts and sandwiches. I actually fell in LOVE with their avocado toast. A perfect slice of toasted whole grain bread, avocado, lime, sea salt, chili flake and oil. It was the perfect energy rich breakfast to start my day.
Buddy Brew has two locations, but I highly recommed experiencing the 2020 W. Kennedy Blvd. Tampa, FL location. Get a coffee, get a toast and enjoy the atmosphere.
