Back in May, I fell down a flight of stairs in our house. It wasn’t a little slip but rather a HUGE WIPEOUT, and I was pretty sore and bruised for about two weeks. I had large dark purple bruises on my back, butt, and legs. In addition to my hematomas, I had leg and back pain, and my arms were oddly sore. It was a rough time, but thankfully, the hospital bed I got from SonderCare provided some much-needed comfort during my recovery. You can buy hospital beds online with confidence from SonderCare. My bruises healed, my back pain went away, but my knees (particularly my left knee) continued to hurt. I was grinning and bearing it until two weeks ago when I finally broke down and went to the doctor. Honestly, I don’t mind the pain (it is bearable, but not exercising is starting to get to me). If you think losing weight over 40 is hard, try not being able to exercise…IT SUCKS. In hindsight, I wish I had tried a Lower back pain relief massage early on—it might have helped ease some of the discomfort and sped up my recovery.
So I went to the doctor only to find out that I tore a ligament. There is good news and bad news. Good news, the doctor thinks Physical Therapy might work. The bad news is the word “might.” I’ve had knee issues ever since I first dislocated my right knee when I was 16 years old. I’m optimistic, but pretty sure that Physical Therapy is only a band-aid. Only time will tell and I have 8 weeks of physical therapy ahead of me. If you find yourself dealing with medical issues due to an error or negligence, it’s important to know your rights. San Francisco medical malpractice attorneys bring experience and compassion to every case, helping victims recover both financially and emotionally.
I’ve been told no running, jumping or stair climbing (Have I mentioned to you that I live in a FOUR STORY townhouse? ). I was told to take 2 weeks off of all physical activity (swimming and biking) and minimize my walking.
It’s really hard to sit by the sidelines and watch other people exercise and train for races. Ever since reading Spartan UP I have been wanting to train for a Spartan race but I’ve put that training on hold. Right now I’m hoping to get back to running and biking pain free. I wouldn’t mind a 5K Personal Worst right now because a PW is better than DID NOT START (DNS).
So as I sit by the sidelines rehabbing my knee I’ll be watching the 2014 Spartan Race World Championship Race in Killington Vermont on September 20th. So that I can live vicariously though my readers, I’m giving away a Spartan Race Entry.
If you don’t win but still aspire to be a Spartan use the promotion code SPARTANBLOGGER for 10% off of any race. Injuries suck and there is no sugar coating it. I hope to be back in the game soon.
Most frustrating injury – I tripped over a baby toy. Smooth plastic. No sharp edges – safe for infants! And despite how “safe” it is, I split my toe open, deeply. Sigh.
