Having worked in Loop for longer than I’d like to admit, I’ve seen Chicago’s Downtown go from a 6 pm ghost town to a cultural mecca with the resurgence of the theater district and the development of Millennium Park. With the Loop’s rebirth, dining choices are now plentiful. Tourists, pre-threater goers and post work cocktailers now have diverse dinning options from pub grub to fine dining. Always on the lookout for fresh seasonal ingredient restaurants, I was a excited to be invited to dine at Tesori with a lovely group from Chicago Food Bloggers .
Testori offers Italian-inspired cuisine featuring fresh seasonal ingredients and global wines. The menu, created by chef Andrew Deuel, has a variety of choices at several price points. We tasted their crusty pizza , sampled several entrees and fresh salads. We finished our meal with house made cookies and ice cream. Each course was paired with a complimentary wine by our sommalier .
All of the food was very fresh and well seasoned. While I enjoyed all of the entrees and salads, I really loved the pizza and dessert.
The pizza had an excellent crust. It was crunchy with a bit of chewiness. And, the topping to cheese ratio was spot on.
The deserts, while simple, were a wonderful selection of cookie and ice cream. The cookies tasted a like home and the ice cream was rich and creamy. I loved the fruit flavors especially the strawberry banana.
Overall, the food at Tesori was above average with excellent pizzas and desserts. I would not hesitate to go back and it would one of my top choices for pre-theater dining in the Loop.
Disclaimer: My evening at Tesori including dinner and drinks was complimentary however, all opinions are my own.
