The last stop on our Scandinavian Vacation last month was Oslo, Norway. Much like Bergen, it was cool and rainy the entire time we were there.
We explored much of the city by foot. Oslo is a bit more gritty than Bergen and has more of an urban feel. It seemed every few blocks there was some major construction being done.
One of the highlights of visiting Oslo was spending time at the Nobel Peace Museum. It was so VERY inspiring to see all the winners and even prompted me to select Nobel Peace Prize Winner Leymah Gbowee’s book Mighty Be Our Powers: How Sisterhood, Prayer, and Sex Changed a Nation at War. One observation I had when leaving the museum was the disproportionate amount of female winners to male winners.
We also took the Big Red Bus to tour in Oslo which took us to the Viking Ship Museum. Whoa, impressive. The amount of engineering and artistry that went into each of the ships particularly the Oseberg was amazing to see.
I was also lucky to have my friend Beth come and join us for the weekend as well as Charlie’s long time fantasy football league friend who lives in Oslo. We all had a great time together and it made the dreary weather in Oslo sparkle like a sunny day in Jamaica.
