How can it possibly be Monday already?
This weekend flew by and was quite the busy one.
Friday night was Ribfest. The weather was gross..cool and a steady stream of smoke, mist and fog. I think the poor weather kept the crowds at bay. We were able to get a beer and ribs with no wait. After a small snack of ribs, ribs and french fries smothered in pulled pork we caught the end of the hockey game and ate some hot wings at a local bar with a good a friend. All of this was washed down with a few beers, of course. In all fairness to my waistline, Charlie and I split 2 samplers (3 bones) and the fries at Ribfest.
Saturday I was up early for a beauty appointment, did some shopping at our local Italian grocery store (fantastic homemade sausage and subs) and bakery. I then stopped by Butcher and Lardner to get some bone marrow butter but they were sold out!!! They just put it in the case the night before and they were sold out by 11 AM. Sad about the butter, I picked up a pint of pork ragu and some jerk sausage. I will make the ragu with pappardelle later this week. And the sausages I will grill with some peppers. After my little gourmet shopping spree I headed to our garden to plant some pepper, tomato and eggplant plants in spots where seeds did not take. I pulled a few baby radishes to thin out the bed and then weeded (for what felt like 2 hours!)
Later that afternoon, I got sucked into the movie Casio while relaxing on the couch. For some reason that movie draws me in every time. I cannot get enough of Ginger’s (Sharon Stones) Bob Mackie dresses in that movie.
Saturday night we headed out to dinner with friends at a local BYOB restaurant. Kan Zaman not only serves up some tasty Lebanese food they also have a great belly dancer on Friday and Saturday night.
Up early on Sunday, we took Addison on an adventure. Red Door Shelter was having a fundraiser dog walk at Indian Boundary Park (if your in Chicago you should check this park out, its really pretty with a pond, huge play area for kids and chickens). It was a fun 3K walk around the neighborhood of West Rogers Manor (a historic Chicago Bungalow neighborhood). We then had a small bagel breakfast and made our way to my mom’s house. Charlie and I helped my mom more some furniture and then we BBQ steaks on the grill for dinner.
By Sunday night I was wiped. I headed to bed early. I did catch the end of the Miami vs Dallas game. I can’t say I’m sad that the Heat lost!
I feel like I could use an extra weekend day. Where did the time go?

Sounds like a great, but exhausting weekend! Ribfest sounds awesome!! As does the restaurant with a belly dancer. I hope you share the ragu that you make!
