I went back to the doctor today….No change. Which is not a bad thing, nor a good thing. I was told I could start running again, taking it slow, using a couch to 5K plan.
That was about it…come back in 12-18 weeks and I can get a script for orthodics that I can *try* to submit to my insurance so that they will pay for them. Since its not getting any worse could mean that its on the mend. And if I get orthodics at this time with my gate off they might not fit properly once it heals. Something to do with how my gate relates to the pitch of my foot.
Regardless, I’m having them made this winter insurance or not. Everyone who I talk to say they have changed their running lives. I want to run like the wind…so here is hoping they help next year.
I did pick up a pair of surefeet to put in my current shoes. They seems to be helping in the interim.
This week I did pick up the C25K program and did workout 1. During workout 1 I fell off the treadmill. Yep…fell off the treadmill. I got a bit over zealous and did sprints after the C25K workout. When I went to jump, I missed….yeah. Just call me Grace.
Needless to say I have some awesome Road Rash on my leg
This is the first day..it got more red and swollen since then but it doesn’t hurt quite as much. Since my leg was swollen and I had a doctor appointment on Friday I opted for less dangerous workouts the rest of the week.
I’ve done A LOT of walking this week…I put in about 15 miles since Monday. Thursday night I packed up the pooch with my neighbor and her dog and walked over 5 miles..that and my walk to and from work and my 1/2 mile morning walk with dog….put me at almost 8 miles for the day.
Tomorrow I’m waking up and walking to the farmers market. Then hit the gym and try not to fall off the treadmill during my C25k Week 1 Workout 2.

Holy Cow… thank goodness you did not get seriously hurt in that fall!!! The “road rash” looks painful, but OMG you are bringing out the mommy in me and I need to tell you to BE CAREFUL WITH YOURSELF!!!!
Good news that you can get back to running, and I hope the orthodics help when you finally get them.

OK, since I know you weren’t seriously injured, the visual of the falling off the treadmill is funny.

I had one treadmill incident several years ago. I know how bad that road rash hurts. Ouch!
Good news that you’ll be able to get back to running!
