*note to self, riding your bike 2 miles a days does not prepare you for a 25 mile ride*
This past Sunday I biked the drive. So much fun yet so much pain.
To start out we had to get up at 5:00 am on Saturday…painful. I normally don’t roll out of bed until 7 am for work.
After getting up and getting ready, Charlie and I headed out. After meeting up with a group of Charlie co-workers we started our 25 mile ride. We headed south first. Cruising to the Museum of Science and Industry was pretty easy..no winds, smooth riding. After stopping for some water and a banana we started back North. Wholly Shit Head Winds! I heard some guy saying that his speedometer said we were going around 4-5 mph. Yeah…Hello, I can walk that fast.
We biked all the way to Fullerton and decided to turn around (the race went to Bryn Mawr but My chest was starting to hurt and I was tired). We biked back to Grant Park (it was really hard to pass Chicago Avenue…home was so close). We decided to indulge in the all you can pancake breakfast. Either I was starving or those were the best dang pancakes I’ve eaten in a long time. I had a second helping. They were GOOD! Gluten Wheat be damned.
It was then that the biking just sucked. The 1.5 mile ride home just plan hurt. It wasn’t my legs..but my ARSE.
All in all it was a super fun time. The weather was great, sunny and cool. I could have done without the wind, but nonetheless, fun.
My food find this week is just plain delicious……and not healthy one bit.
Gluten Free Cupcakes from Swirlz.
Oh….My…Goodness they are good! I do not want to know what the calorie count is. I bought one a the new Whole Foods (which I must say is just down right impressive). I got the Chocolate Grasshopper Mint. Delicious. I’m glad that the actual bakery is not close to where I live. I’d be there every day.
I’m dying to try the gluten free lemon and banana cream cheese.
