I’m starting to feel my running groove again. I’m building back my base, only 6 more miles to go..LOL. Kinda stinks having such a low base and having to rebuild. On the other hand, I’m not sure that I will ever love running all winter on a track. And I think treadmills are Gods way of punishing fit people.
First race is the Shamrock Shuffle. It is March 29th and I pray that the weather is nice. I’m not a fan of running in the cold and rain.
On the topic of food, I’ve given up wheat as part of my regular diet. I’ve been wheat free for 7 days. I have to say I do feel better. I defiantly don’t retain as much fluid. I’m not sure if I have more energy or I’m sleeping better. The first 3 days I kept my “regular” diet and just gave up wheat. The last four days I added more nuts into my diet. And I bought some Almond Butter. Eh…on the Almond Butter. Its not sweetened, so it not nearly as good as Peanut Butter. But I’m sure I can get use to it, or figure out how to doctor it up.
This week I’m giving up HFC, High Fructose Corn Syrup. This is going to be hard, so many things including peanut butter have HFC.
The next items that are on the elimination list are sugar, corn, white rice.
I’m not sure about corn. I eat a lot of corn. But not every day…so I’m thinking on a scale of 1-10 I’m not going to feel that much better not eating it. Same goes for white rice. Now sugar, I’m sure it will help a ton…but I cannot eat a lot of sugar free stuff. I’m probably going to have to embrace agave nectar and steevia and splenda. Because fruit just doesn’t cut it.
I’ll be sure to report back.

Amen about winter running. I don’t think ANYONE loves running on a track all winter, and my mileage since November shows it. Come on, Spring!
When I eliminated sugar, I felt great! But once I had that first little bit again, it was a downward spiral. I think that agave nectar is good, and still use it as my sweetener of choice in oatmeal and the like.
Good luck with the elimination plan!

I’m fine with winter running, but the single digit temps, with wind, ummm no thank you.
I cut HFCS a while ago, the other stuff I don’t think I’d miss. But, it would be tough giving up wheat.
I can’t eat sugar free stuff either. This is why I keep sugar free mints in my office. I’m not tempted to eat the whole bag.
