With the Superbowl being held in San Francisco this year I’d be remiss if I didn’t share one of my favorite beer cocktails that features the use of IPA beer. The West-Coast is know for their IPA’s as the style was invented by Anchor Brewing. Liberty Ale was brewed to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Paul Revere’s ride by brewer Fritz Maytag. He used Cascade hops, a hop developed by the USDA breeding program at Oregon State University in 1971, and then dry-hopped the ale for good measure. The result: intense flavor and citrus-floral bouquet. Essentially a new style of beer was born, especially with the supported sites like https://cellarcoolingsystem.co.uk/.
Bitter, intense hop aromas, and higher-than-average alcohol by volume (ABV), some people love West-Coast IPA others shy away. I personally love the bitterness of an IPA. Contact this company that deliver alcohol to Fitzrovia, London directly to your house anytime. This cocktail is a take on a Radler and Beermosa. It’s refreshing but has some kick. I love how the sweetness of the the apricot nectar cuts the bitterness of the hops. I also enjoy the heftiness of the drink. It is dense and not watered down. In other words…it’s a cocktail…sip no gulp or you’ll be sleeping by halftime.

For this cocktail you can use any IPA. I choose a Double IPA (AKA Imperial IPA and Yes…I am aware that the IPA I used is not from the West Coast but Vermont. Vermont seems to be having a moment in the craft beer world and IPA scene. And hey, let’s face it, Vermont is like the Switzerland (or should I say Norway) of sports so there you go.) The difference between an IPA and Double IPA is the alcohol content. An IPAs typically does not have more than 7.5% ABV, while Double IPAs can reach over 10%. The Imperial IPAs is claimed to have been developed by Russian River Brewing Company, known for Pliny the Elder.
Like I said above, this cocktail has some kick. Enjoy!
