The Superbowl is just days ways. While I’m totally excited for the game , I’m even more excited for the food. Sadly, Superbowl food isn’t the best for the waistline. According to an article in Time Magazine, “Americans who snack on typical Super Bowl fare, like pizza, beer, soda, chips, dips, hot wings and nachos, could take in as many as 2,400 calories and 121 grams of fat just during the game.” YIKES!!!
One way to counterbalance those calories is to snack lighter. Here are my favorite 5 “healthier” Superbowl Snacks. I promise they are big in flavor and you won’t miss the calories or fat.
Avocado Hummus with Salt and Pepper Jicama Chips
Substituting raw vegetables for chips and crackers significantly brings down the amount of calories; yeah! more dip.
Low Fat Bacon Jalapeño Cheeseball
It’s a creamy, a little spicy, a little smokey and you won’t miss the any of the fat or the calories. Serve with Rye Crisp crackers; they are light, crispy, a tad salty and not high in calories.
Light and fluffy popcorn and No butter needed!
Low in fat and calories and high in fiber and flavor these tostadas can also serve as mini main.
Low Fat and Calorie Baked Bacon Jalapeño Poppers
They might be look messy but trust me they are delicious. They are low fat and clock in at 33 calories each. YES!!! 33 Calories.
Another nugget of info to help you keep your fat and calories in check, a 2013 study in the journal Psychological Science found that people who rooted for the team that lost ate 16% more saturated fat than they usually did. Fans who cheered for the winning team ate 9% less saturated fat than usual.
So what team will you be rooting for?
