Last month, for eleven glorious days I left my laptop and work behind and headed to Denmark and Norway for a vacation. A wonderful, relaxing vacation with Charlie.
Our first stop was Copenhagen, Denmark. We spent 4 days eating, beer drinking, sightseeing and biking. Only after being there for a few short hours, I fell in love with Copenhagen.
The people are gracious, kind and friendly. The city is accessible, clean and environmentally conscious. Bread and coffee, Copenhagen takes both seriously…MY KIND OF TOWN.
The Copenhagen Celebration of Beer is what actually brought us to Copenhagen. For two days we sipped some of the best beers in the world. Brewers from Shanghai to Australia brought out their brews for sampling.
The trip was made even more special by seeing an old friend who coincidentally was working in Copenhagen during our visit. It only took us 18 years and 5000 miles to catch up for a beer.
And then there was my favorite part of the trip, the food. We ate everything from traditional Smorgasbord, to glorious cheese, to the freshest of bread, to luxurious molecular cuisine at Geranium. All delicious, all memorable.
I would have loved to have spent more time exploring Copenhagen and just hanging out with the locals. I’ll be back again, for sure.
